This Shareware Spotlight is a bit different in part because the programis being featured for unusual reasons. It's a well-known fact that I'vebeen "finding files" for a long time. That's not true, however,of the rest of my family. My daughters Melaina and Kadee both grew upusing computers from the time each was four years old. Both work withcomputers today. That's not true of my wife of nearly 30 years, Mrs.File Finder.

My wife primarily uses her computer when she has to, like when she wasin graduate school. She's a very intelligent woman, but like many peopleshe just can't into computers. She affectionately refers to me as her"live in tech support." So, imagine my surprise when the othernight she found her first file!

She's been to a Nurse Practitioners conference and I was helping herburn some lectures onto CDs. In looking at the files I could tell thatsome of the lectures were going to require two CDs. So, I said that andnext thing I know my darling wife had found her first file. She wasexcited and asked me if I'd write about it and I told her that indeed Iwould. Cool MP3 Splitter, Yaosoft,Inc. is a cool tool for splitting and joiningMP3 files. The program is very easy-to-use and has a very basic andeasily understood user interface. COOL MP3 Splitter gives youthree (3) different ways to split up your MP3 files. You can split by:

• Size of the pieces
• Time of each section
• Sections you create

For the project we were working on I split the files by file size. Theprocess worked flawlessly and gave us high-quality on all parts of thesplit files. If you wish, the program also gives you the ability to fadeout or fade in. This is great for tapering off the end of a song orgradually going into one.

COOL MP3 Splitter can also join MP3 files so you can create onebig file from several small ones. I tested this and it also worked verywell. The program uses "multi-thread split" technology to deliver thebest possible performance.
