Greetings and Welcome!I'm glad you could take the time to stop by to take a look at my Picks for this week. Fall seems to be in full swing here in Colorado, but it's not as easy to tell as it was when we lived in Michigan. Lots of sun and lots of clear, crisp days. Anyway, as always, I've been looking at a lot of software and I've found some excellent programs to tell you about. So, if you're all set, sit back, relax, prop up your feet, and lets take a look!

iDo Wedding Couple Edition, by Elm Softwareis a full-featured program for planning everything for your wedding. Like invitations. You add all of your contacts and put in names, addresses, email addresses, and so on. In testing it out I thought it was clever that the program has you save each person as an individual and not as a couple. So, for example, my wife and I would each have our own entry. Pretty slick. Makes it easier to track information for each person, like their meal choice, for example.

iDO Wedding Couple Edition can import contacts from any comma-delimited file (CSV), which makes it easy-to-do. I also liked the fact that you could send out an email to everyone in your guest list reminding them to set your wedding day aside. Kind of like a "heads-up"to all the people on your list. The program also keeps track of RSVP's.How cool is that? It generates an ID for each person and you include this on the invitation. Makes it easy to track exactly who responded and who didn't.

iDO Wedding Couple Edition takes care of all the details. The interface is intuitive and it's easy-to-use, perfect for users with all levels of experience. Use it to track gifts, expenses, create time lines, and much more. It's obvious to me that the creators really gave a lot of thought when creating the program. It's been 30 years since I got married, but to me iDO Wedding Couple Edition covers all the bases. I like it so much that it's not only a Pick, but I'm also making it one of my Dr. File Finder's Favorites and those are few and far between. So, if a wedding is in your future, this is a program you should look at. I recommend it.

EASEUS Data Recovery Wizard, by YIWO Tech Ltd.is a cool tool that can save the day if you accidentally delete a file or have data that needs saving. I was impressed with how easy the program is to use. At the same time it has an interface that you don't have to be a computer guru to understand, so it's great for users with all levels of experience. This is the kind of program that everyone should have as part of their HELP! toolkit. It can recover data from a wide range of situations, include things removed from the Recycle Bin, things erased from network drives, and even from drives that you've reformatted! Cool!

EASUEUS Data Recovery Wizard can help to recover data that might become lost or damaged after a crash, through corruption, partition problems, and lots more. Like similar products you need to attempt recovery as soon as possible. See my "Comment - PRN below on this subject. The program works with a wide range of disk formats including NTFS, FAT, FAT32, and variations of these. The program even has a handy"wizard" that will scan a hard drive in search of potentially salvageable data.

EASUEUS Data Recover Wizard is a powerful tool that has a lot of power under-the-hood. Everyone has problems with lost data sometime and this might be an excellent addition to your toolkit. Check it out.

Comments PRN - As advanced as computers have become over the years, hard drives are still pretty much the same. Data is written onto the hard drive in sequential order. When you install a program think of it going down on the hard drive like row of blocks. Now, if you remove that same program and install a bigger one, the new one will overwrite the blocks the old program had occupied and some new ones. All this addition and subtraction leads to fragmentation, but it also plays a part in data recovery. Think about it. If you delete a file it free up blocks on the hard drive. If you install something else or download a file, it's going to cover up that spot and almost eliminate any chance of recovery. So, the instant you realize that you've accidentally deleted a file, for example, is when you need to try to recover it. Don't wait and don't do anything else. If you do you can usually kiss the file(s) goodbye.

Norton AntiVirus, by Symantec Corp.was one of the first antivirus products and it's still going strong today. The program detects viruses, worms, Trojan horses, spyware, adware, and more. It can even detect the rootkit infections that can be so tricky. Norton AntiVirus will scan your computer, your email, and even your instant messages. It also includes updates that can be obtained from Symantec's "Live Update" center.

Like all programs that detect computer threats, it's only as good as its last update. That's why it's key that you keep the virus definitions up-to-date at all times. Norton AntiVirus is extremely easy-to-use and it has a solid user interface. So, if you're looking for away to deal with all of the creepy-crawlies you're exposed to on the Internet, take a look Norton AntiVirus. Solid!

iCueMix, by Exabre Limitedis a program that caught my eye because it had a catchy name. What does it do? Well, it helps you to create cool playlists for your music. Ahh, but not just any playlists, these are special. When I first ran the program it scanned the music on my computer. In doing so it got an idea of the kind of music I like to listen to. The program works on your PCin conjunction with iTunes from Apple and I really like the concept.

In iCueMix I picked a couple of songs and based on that input it generated a playlist. I liked every song on that playlist, so I tried it again. Not only does it work on my PC, but the playlists are copied to my iPod. I had the program on my machine for some time and being the scientific type I just had to experiment. What I found is that the program got smarter the more I used it. For example, I found that if I skipped a song it was less likely to be included in a future mix. At the same time the songs I always listened to all the way through were put in future mixes. Slick!

I don't know about you, but I often create playlists and then find myself skipping over certain songs. Then it's back to the drawing board, redoing the playlist and reburning a CD. With iCueMix I've liked every playlist it's created and I really like the way it interfaces with iTunes and my iPod. I actually kind of enjoyed having the program create the lists and put them on my iPod. So, if you have a music collection and you'd like some intelligent help in creating playlists, take a good look at iCueMix. I like it so well that I'm making it not only a Pick, but also a Dr. File Finder'sFavorites and there aren't very many of those. If you like music be sure to check it out. Excellent!
