The Basics and More!

Task Plus Pro by Contact Plus Corporation is a high-poweredpersonal information manager. The program offers features I didn't find in any other product and to me that's impressive. Right out of the gate it has all the features you might want in a PIM for your small business. Multiple users can easily share the same calendar.

You can create task and "to-do" items quickly and easily. Because it's designed to be used on a network you can create both private andgroup tasks. The group tasks can be seen by everyone that's running a copy of the program. At the same time the private tasks can be just for you. For each task you can enter notes and that's a very handy feature. If you look at the screen shot you can see that the notes fort he highlighted task are shown below. That way you can quickly see notes to yourself without having to open up the note.

In testing out Task Plus Professional I found I could easily add things to the calendar for my assistant to do. Her copy of the program would automatically update with anything new I'd added from mine. Slick.Tasks can be single events or you can make it so they repeat at the interval you want. I also really like the fact that you can assign each task a category and a priority. If you like you can also give each task an alarm to remind you.

Task Plus Professional has a powerful search function so you can find things easily. You can also filter your items and view them easily. The program lets you filter on a wide range of criteria including categories, dates, user, and more. Really a full-featured product, but there's still more.

Special Extras

With just the things I've talked about so far, Task Plus Professional is a great personal information manager, but there are so many extras to tell you about. Like a built-in email system. That's right. You can send email to other users on your network without having to use the Internet. My assistant and I sent messages back and forth. You can make messages private, include attachments, mark messages as "saved", do carbon copies, and more. What a handy feature to include in a network PIM. Nicely done and if you want you can broadcastmessages to all users on your network.

Task Plus Professional lets you attach documents to tasks. I attached text files, Word documents, and Excel spreadsheets with ease. A great way to link documents that pertain to task to the task. Another cool feature in Task Plus Professional is generating your calendar into HTML!

You can elect to do a month or an entire year. Before you click the button you can also elect to include all fields or just specific ones.As you can see in the screen shot, it gives you the full monthly calendar and then puts detail for each day down below. Oh, and speaking of detail the program also has a Browse feature that produces some amazing reports. Choose from a "summary" report or a "detailed" report that really gives you all the details. Impressive.

Summing It Up!

Task Plus Professional is a powerful tool for keeping organized on your network. It has all the things you could possibly want in a PIM,plus so many wonderful extras. The program is intuitive to use and that makes it perfect for users with all levels of experience. With built-in email, the ability to generate reports and HTML calendars, this baby is loaded with features. From holidays to undo, it's impressive. It also includes a set of tools so you can manipulate users, do backups of all your data, and more.

I have to say that I started out to review Task Plus Professionalsimply as part of this series on personal information managers. The more I worked with the program, however, the more impressed I was.Trust me, after evaluating 230,000 software programs, I don't get impressed very easily. Task Plus Professional has so much going for it that I'm also pleased to give it the Tucows Editors Choice Award for excellence. If you're working on a network with a couple of people or a bunch, this is a great way to stay organized an up-to-date. After testing it out, my assistant and I like it so much I'm going to have to buy a copy, it's that good. You may want to get a copy too. Check it out.
