Backups Made Easy
SyncBackSE is a powerful backup solution that's also extremelyeasy-to-use. In working with the program it didn't take me long todecide that it was a cut above similar products. In addition to backingup the program can also be used to synchronize two computers. Theinterface is clean and intuitive and the program is perfect for both newand experienced users. SyncBackSE has a wide range customizablefeatures and I always like that. The program makes backup easy.

SyncBackSE can backup your important data to hard drives, networkdrives, external hard drives, DVD, CD, and even to FTP sites. It canbackup files that are locked or open so you can be sure everyfile is backed up. It's quick and easy to create a backup profileand the program takes you through the process step-by-step. At each stepthere is built-in help so that if you don't understand something you canget help then. In many program you'd have to quit and go find outwhat something meant, but not in SyncBackSE. The help is rightthere when you need it. Slick!
SyncBackSE lets you schedule your backup profiles to run or youcan run them with a mouse click. Restoring is just as easy. The programalso allows you to create groups of profiles and this is a veryhandy feature. You can, for example, schedule a group that consists offour (4) profiles to run at one time. That means you don't have tostagger your backups or have them running while you're working. Theability to group profiles together makes the entire process much moreefficient.
Extras Come Standard
While SyncBackSE has all the standard features you'dexpect, it also has some appealing extras. It can do both full backupsand incremental backups along with being able to synchronize computers. It has both a simple wizard and an expert one. If you just want to do abackup you can be in easy mode and just click a profile. Ahh, butif you want to have some control over your backups, you can. You canhave various levels of compression as well as encryption.
The expert mode also lets you tell the program what decisions to makeregarding files, including how to compare files. You can put in FTPinformation, force certain programs to close before the profile is run,and tell SyncBackSE what to do in regards to your network. Youcan also configure the program to send you an email every time a profileruns or only under certain conditions, like if there's an error.
If all this weren't enough, the program lets you do even more. That'sright, SyncBackSE lets you decide:
- To only show groups
- Which font to use
- What language to use
- Settings for the log
- How to minimize
- What to do when backups are done
- and MORE
Summing It Up!
Finding SyncBackSE was the nicest surprise I've had in some time. It's easy-to-use, yet powerful. It can be used to backup your homecomputer or the machines on your network. A backup can be as simple asclicking a profile or and detailed as you want it to be. You can backupto an external hard drive or an FTP site, it's up to you. You cancontrol how fast the backups go, whether they run in the background ornot, and so much more. SyncBackSE offers all of thestandard features you'd want plus an amazing array of extras. Allthis for $25.00 US. That's a steal!
I was so impressed with SyncBackSE that not only did I decide toinclude it in this editorial series, but I also started using it to backup all the computers on my network. This is one of the slickest programsI've looked at all year. I like it so well that I'm awarding it theTucows Editor's Choice Award forexcellence. Take the time to try it out for yourself. I give it myhighest recommendation.
