Keeping It Together

Once you have more than one computer in your household or in your business you're going to encounter the necessity of keeping themtogether. That is to say keeping them in sync. Why? Well simply because you're going to find that you're going to want the same music no matter which machine you use. You may want to have the same photos as well. At the same time you may also want to have access to the same documents. Ahh, then there's also your email. Before you know it you're looking for something to synchronize your computers. It's for that purpose that I present BeInSync! Lets take a look

Total Synchronization

Nearly all other synchronization tools I've ever evaluated work across a network or LAN. You map a drive on the other computer and then you proceed to synchronize the folders you want. Right off the bat that's one way that BeInSync is different. It securely connects to your other computers in a peer-to-peer relationship. So, for example, I'm using it to synchronize my real computer with myvirtual computers. It's doing that in real time. Even as I write this article it's being updated on my real computer as I work.

In the screen shot BeInSync is getting ready to synchronize the mail folders between my virtual machine (that I'm working in), and myreal computer. I'm using BeInSync to synchronize my email folders, my editorial folders, and my newsgroup folders. Because it connects via the Internet I can maintain this synchronization no matter where I'm at. I don't have to be connected to my local network because I'm always connected to the Internet. I'm also synchronizing thisvirtual machine with the one on my laptop. So, if I have to go somewhere, my laptop is ready. And, with my laptop also syncing, when I get back the key things on my desktop are already synchronized.Wow!

Web Access and More

BeInSync offers you lots of flexibility. It's easy-to-use and intuitive. Just install a copy on each computer you want to keep in sync. You can use the product to keep computers synced and you can share folders with others. Because you can access your account withBeInSync from any Web browser you can actually access your computers from anywhere. I don't mean access as in remote control, but you can access the files and folders of each machine.

The screen shot shows a directory listing of of Drive C on my main computer. So, if there are files that I don't want to keep totally synchronized, no problem. I can be in Denver or Dubai and I can log in and get the files I need. Because you can easily share folders and data with friend and associates a group can work on files together. You invite them, they receive an email, and they can then access the files. Slick.

Summing It Up!

BeInSync is a powerful way to synchronize computers, share files, and have access to your files from anywhere. Please note that because it engages in peer-to-peer file sharing some anti-virus programs will sound an alert. I've been using it for a month and I'm totally impressed. It keeps files and folders synchronized, lets me share files with family and friends, and lets me access my files no matter where I am. For anyone who want to keep files in sync on multiple computersBeInSync is a "Must Have Application". I'm also awarding it the Tucows Editor's Choice Award for excellence. You owe it to yourself to give BeInSync a try. I recommend it!
