Greetings and Welcome! A big, heartywelcome to May as well. Hard to believe that we're already into May,isn't it. Seems like just yesterday the ball was falling in TimesSquare. Anyway, theSIAF People's Choice Awards have started so don't forget to cast your vote. For this weekI'm doing a "Dr. File Finder Picks Roundup! of music players. I hope you'll enjoy it. So, if you'reready, just grab something to drink, kick your feet up, relax, and letstake a look.

Winamp, by Nullsoft is acool music player that's small, but powerful. Winamp has been around forawhile now and it just keeps getting better. This latest version hassome cool new improvement including the ability to sync with youriPod. Winamp can also sync with devices from Creative Labs. Intesting it out I found a number of cool features that really impressedme. For example, Winamp makes it possible for every user of a PCto have their own music libraries and settings. Cool!

Even cooler is that you only need a single copy of the program. I alsofound that this new version offers some new encoders. The program isgreat for ripping music from CDs and then playing it. Create playlists, and lots more. Winamp also lets you utilize skins so youcan really customize the look and feel. If you want a high-powered musicplayer that's loaded with features give Winamp a try!

RealOne Player, by Realis another player that's been around for quite awhile. There's a freeversion and also a version you can pay for. RealOne Player is areal powerhouse and lets you play everything from CDs to DVDs. Theinterface is easy-to-use and intuitive and the program is perfect forusers with all levels of experience.

It should be noted that RealOne Player is not just a mediaplayer, but that it can also be used as a "jukebox" In the payversion you can also subscribe to some very cool channels provided byReal Networks. You can get streaming media, news, entertainment, andlots more. So, if you're looking for a full-featured media experienceRealOne Player may be just what you're looking for. Take the time tocheck it out for yourself. I recommend it.

Ashampoo Media Player, by ashampoo GmbH & Co. KG.is another music player that's loaded with lots of powerful features. The first thing noticed is that it supports a wide range of media fileformats including, MP3, AVI, MOD, MP2, MOD, WAV, and many more. Anotherreally cool feature is what they call "dynamic" playlists. So,for example, I added a folder called "New Music" and each time I addedmusic to that folder the program was also updated. So, dynamic playlistsupdate themselves to always reflect the contents. Pretty slick.

Another cool feature found in Ashampoo Media Player is theability to actually save volume setting for every song. Intesting it out I made certain songs really loud because I like to hearthem that way, and with others I made the volume quieter. Each time Ipulled up the songs they played with the volume levels I'd given them. Ashampoo Media Player also supports online playlists, plugins, and you can even have playlists that are located online.

Ashampoo Media Player has a ton of features and you really needto try it out for yourself to really appreciate it. You can "skin" theinterface to give it a unique look. The interface is very easy-to-useand you get lots of configurable options. So, if you looking for aclassic media player take a good look at Ashampoo Media Player. Irecommend it.

Blaze Tray Audio, by Liquid Mirror Softwareis a teeeny-tiny audio player that's really easy-to-use. The program isso intuitive that both new and experienced users will have fun with it.I like the fact that it minimizes to the system tray so it's out of theway. At the same time it's easily accessible so you can get to itquickly.

Blaze TrayAudio handles a wide range of file formats and you caneasily adjust playing options. Easy to mute, easy to adjust thesettings, and so on. Another thing I like is that it gives you lots ofconfigurable options so the program works the way you want and I alwayslike that. It's a tiny audio player with a lot going on under-the-hood.So, check it out for yourself and see what you think.

MediaMonkey, by Ventis Media, Inc.is a nifty little program for managing your music collection and muchmore. You can use it to play music, like MP3 files, record CDs, convertmusic files from one format to another, and more. Make your ownplaylists and get this, it even syncs with an iPod!

MediaMonkey comes in two versions a Standard and a Gold version. Lots of options and features in both versions and some cool things foundonly in the Gold version. The program is really easy-to-use and perfectfor users with all levels of experience. Take the time to check it outfor yourself. Nicely done.

Here are some other media-related programs you can find right here onTucows.

That brings my "Dr. File Finder Picks Roundup of media players to an end. Give them a try and see what youthink. I'll be back next week with more cool software to tell you about.I hope you'll join me. Till then have a great week, a wonderful weekend, and happy downloading.
