Alleycode HTML Editor, by Konae
Technologies, Inc. is an impressive HTML editor that you can get
for FREE. The program has all the basics you'd expect plus some
cool extra features. I found the program to be easy-to-use and
intuitive, perfect for users with all levels of experience. Unlike many
similar products I didn't get the feeling of being overwhelmed by
buttons and functions. The layout is clean and crisp.
Alleycode
HTML Editor makes it easy to work with CSS, or "style sheets."
The program also has a cool "Optimizer" that checks all of your
meta tags to make sure your pages do well with search engines. In
working with the program I really liked the fact that the toolbars were
compact and not cluttered. With many HTML editors I've tried you get the
feeling that you're never going to know which button is which, but I
didn't feel that way with Alleycode HTML Editor. The program is
loaded with features including FTP, a wizard for doing tables, a search
and replace, and lots more. You also get a number of ways to view your
project and you can work on multiple pages at once. Alleycode HTML
Editor is a well-rounded HTML editor. So, if you want to work on
your Web pages give it a try. It may be the solution you've been
looking for.

PicaJet Photo Organizer, by PicaJet.Com is a really slick
program for working with all your digital photos. I suppose I should say
digital "images"a because the program supports an impressive
number of graphics file formats. Among the formats it can handle you'll
find GIF, BMP, JPG, ICO, ANI, CUR, PCX, PNG, TIF, WMF, and many more.
PicaJet Photo Organizer takes a slightly different approach to
organizing images. Photos can be placed into categories and the program
indexes all your files really quickly. What impressed me is that it can
actually information from inside the pictures and create categories for
you. Slick.
In
dealing with my photo collection the program was amazingly fast
and efficient. Oh, and beyond just putting your photos into categories
you can also associate an icon with each category. I found that made it
much easier to know where to put a photo or where to find one. The
program is easy-to-use and has a tremendous array of features. I can see
where it would be perfect for dealing with large numbers of photos or
images. For example, PicaJet Photo Organizer has a function that
lets you handle images in batches. That's really a powerful
feature because you can rename, resize, and even convert large numbers
of images/photos. Slick.
PicaJet Photo Organizer lets you hide photos that you consider private. It also makes it easy for you to put photos on removable media like CD and DVD. In testing it out I found it was a great way to move photos off my hard drives and onto discs and yet still be able to find them later. So, for example, you can move all of the photos of your last vacation onto a DVD and PicaJet Photo Organizer keeps a thumbnail of each image. If you double-click on any image that you've moved the program tells you what disc to insert. Excellent! And if all this wouldn't be enough there's even more. The ability to create albums, send photos directly to cell phones, touch-up images, and so much more. PicaJet Photo Organizer is one of those programs that you just have to try to appreciate. I like it so much that it's not only a Pick, but it's also a Dr. File Finder Favorite and in 25 years there haven't been very many of those. Give it a try and see for yourself. I recommend it!

Visual Autorun, by Digitope,Inc.
is a nifty program you can use with any of your projects that go on CD.
For example, you can create a really cool menu for a CD full of
photos. You can make your menus as fancy as you want and can even add
multimedia aspects.
I tested it
out using photos because I'd just been working with photos. In a very
short amount of time I was able to create a cool menu that would let a
user do a slideshow of my photos on the CD. This gives you
a cool way to share photos with family and friends. In effect you're
creating a nice interface for a CD that they can use on their PC. Heck,
your slideshow can even include music. Testing out this feature I put
some Irish folk music with the pictures of our trip to Ireland and it
came out really cool. The program has an intuitive user interface and is
easy-to-use, perfect for both new and experienced users. With Visual
Autorun you can create your own cool interfaces for any CD
project. So, if you'd like to dazzle your friends and family give it a
try. I recommend it.

R-Wipe & Clean, by R-tools
Technology, Inc. is a clever utility for totally wiping
data from a disc. I have to say that when I first downloaded the program
I thought it was primarily a program for securely wiping a hard drive.
Ahh, not the case. R-Wipe & Clean can also handle all of the junk
that you accumulate on your machine.
For example, the
screen shot shows the programs display for Firefox. You can go through
and wipe temporary files, autocomplete information, and so on.
Keep in mind that the program is wiping the data, not just
deleting it. That means it's gone. It doesn't just work
with Web browsers either, but can handle the junk from over 200 other
applications. R-Wipe & Clean is fast and efficient. I tested it
out by having it wipe all the unused space on my Drive C and I was
impressed with how fast it was. Another cool feature is to bundle wipe
functions into a series. That means you get do a bunch of things in one
session. Even better, you can schedule these things to happen at
a certain time or after a certain event. For example, I had it clean up
each time my browser closed which made it really handy. R-Wipe &
Clean can be used in a quick mode or in one that is really secure.
So, if you'd like to remove tracks or really eliminate junk files
this may be your solution. Check it out!
