xPlayer for Blackberry by SHAPER Services

Note: Since by definition "smartphones" are phones that are also PDA's, the software reviewed here should work with personal digital assistants that are not "smartphones". Check the operating system because we'll be reviewing software for Pocket PC, Palm, and Blackberry devices. -- Editor
In looking around for a good media player for my Blackberry 8830 I was
prepared to pay to get something decent. Instead, I found xPlayer
from SHAPE Services and ended up paying ZERO. This nifty multimedia
player for Blackberry devices is totally free and it's the best I found.
It supports a wide range of audio formats and odds are it will play the
music you listen to.
Just a few of the formats it handles include MP3, AVI, MP4, WAV, and
more. The feature I liked the best was the ability to maneuver around my
Blackberry file system to find the songs I wanted. xPlayer let me
create playlists or pick the songs you want one by one. You can also
play videos using xPlayer and it does a beautiful job. One
feature that really shocked me was the background functionality.
I was listening to music on my Blackberry when I had a phone call come
in. The music immediately paused and when I hung up the phone, the music
started back up right were it left off. Slick! xPlayer gives you
control over volume, playlists, and you can even give the program a
theme that suits you. xPlayer, by SHAPE Services, is the most
impressive media player I found. It's what I use on my Blackberry. Give
it a try on yours.
If you have software you use on your "smartphone" or PDA, come and talk about it with us in the Forums. We look forward to seeing you there.
