eFile for Blackberry by Dynoplex

Note: Since by definition "smartphones" are phones that are also PDA's, the software reviewed here should work with personal digital assistants that are not "smartphones". Check the operating system because we'll be reviewing software for both Pocket PC and Palm devices. -- Editor
I've had a variety of smartphones including Palm, Windows Mobile,
and BlackBerry devices. In every case, however, there was one type of
software that I looked for right away. A file manager. To me it
does me no good to have a 2 gigabyte storage card in my smartphone if I
don't have a smart way to work with those files. On the Blackberry I've
discovered eFile by Dynoplex. This is a full-featured file
manager that lets you move files, delete files, rename files, and even
make directories or folders.
There's a free version of
eFile, but I'm going to talk about the features in the full
version eFile Pro. The interface is somewhat similar to Windows
Explorer. It's quite intuitive and easy-to-use and that's really nice
when you're talking about working on a smartphone. The program even has
a tiny arrow cursor that you move around as you would a mouse. This
makes it easy to navigate around files and folders. eFile Pro
gives you the ability to easily store files on whatever type of storage
card your device uses. So, when you get an email with an attachment you
can easily save it to storage and later move it to your PC. Another
feature of eFile Pro is unlimited online storage. That's
right, when you buy eFile Pro you get a free account where you
can store as much as you want. You can backup the contents of your data
card to this online area or save your attachments there. The site is
really secure because it uses your Blackberry PIN for
authorization in addition to a user name and password. Your data is also
encrypted. The storage is a terrific feature to have because you can
keep data there and then access it from anywhere. eFile Pro is
solid and very easy-to-use, perfect for all users. If you have a
BlackBerry device and want a way to work with files this is your
solution. Give it a try, I recommend it.
If you have software you use on your "smartphone" or PDA, come and talk about it with us in the Forums. We look forward to seeing you there.
