Note: Since by definition "smartphones" are phones that are also PDA's, the software reviewed here should work with personal digital assistants that are not "smartphones". Check the operating system because we'll be reviewing software for Pocket PC, Windows Mobile, Palm, and BlackBerry devices. -- Editor

If you have a Treo smartphone and you'd like to beef up the security, then you'll want to take a good look at Warden Security from iambic, Inc. Warden is the real deal when it comes to protecting you, and your data, in every way. Let's face it, more and more users, myself included, are carrying more data on their smartphones. What happens if you lose your phone. Well, with Warden on the job you won't have to worry because it has some cool features. For one, you can remotely encrypt all the data on your phone. You can also do this locally, but if your phone is lost being able to do it remotely is a life saver. In addition, you can also delete data on your device from a remote location. In testing it out I found that Warden can be configured to make your device totally secure without constantly bugging you. I think that's an important feature because often if something bothers people they'll simply bypass it and that isn't the point. Another one of my favorite features is really kind of James Bond in nature. Say you've lost your phone and one of your friends calls you, not knowing that you don't have your phone? Well, Warden has a cool option to actually route all the calls to your mobile device to voice mail without the phone even ringing. Slick! Your data is protected on a daily basis, but if you should lose your Treo device you have ways to eliminate the possibility of someone getting at your data. So, if you have a Treo smartphone this is a product you need to look at. A very impressive security system, I recommend it.

If you have software you use on your "smartphone" or PDA, come and talk about it with us in the Forums. We look forward to seeing you there.
