WinSettings Pro, by FileStream, Inc. is a feature-rich program that does so many things and it does them all well. I've been in computers a long time and I have to admit it, I like to tinker. It's in my nature, at least when it comes to computers. I like programs that pick one task and do it well, but I also like a program that can do a number of tasks well. And WinSettings Pro helps you to accomplish a lot of interesting tasks. For one, it allows you to clean up all of the "tracks" you leave when you surf the Web. It can clean up your surfing history, remove cookies, eliminate the Internet cache, and more! Nicely done. Another nifty feature built right in is the ability to capture the screen. And not only will it capture something off the screen, it will put that capture in an e-mail for you. And, it even provides you with the basic tools to edit an image. Slick!!WinSettings Pro goes on to do even more cool things. One of my favorites is the ability to play background music on your computer. It can also handle file associations with ease. For those who aren't clear on that, file associations link specific programs to specific file types. Like DOC files to Microsoft Word, or all graphics files to your graphics editor, and so on. WinSettings Pro really makes setting these file associations quick and easy. Ahhh, but there's more. You can use the program to create areas on your screen that will activate your screen saver -- very slick. Plus, you can have the program change your desktop wallpaper when Windows starts and it helps you change the standard Windows system icons, like My Computer. Very nicely done!WinSettings Pro, by FileStream, Inc., is a powerful tool that's very easy-to-use. The interface is intuitive, so it's great for both new and experienced users. And what I like about it is that it lets you do so many things. Change system icons, play background music, create tray icon menus, take and e-mail a screen shot, and even move applications from one drive to another. And, it not only does these things, but it does all of them well! So, if you'd like to tinker a bit and have some interesting features right at your fingertips, take a really good look at WinSettings. It's a beautifully done piece of software. I recommend it highly!
Living Waterfalls 2 Screensaver , by Rhode Island Soft Systems, Inc. is a truly impressive product and part of a line of equally impressive products. I don't normally review screen savers, but when I saw this one I felt I had to bring it to your attention. The screen saver is alive with activity. Just picture this: you're deep in the forest and you come upon a cascading waterfall that drops into a beautiful pool. You hear the falling water, the call of birds, a beautiful butterfly comes into view and lands on a leaf for a rest. And in the background some lovely piano music is playing. It's amazing I didn't fall asleep I was so relaxed just looking at this scene. And the program gives you configurable options. Don't want the music? Just turn it off. Limit the extra details like the butterflies, or turn off the sounds. Totally up to you! Living Waterfalls 2 Screensaver brings realism to the world of screen savers. And it's part of a whole line of great "living" screen saver products including Living Coral, Living Rainforest, Living Gardens and Living Beaches. You have to see these products to really appreciate how special they are. And now RISS has introduced "Living Wallpaper" so your desktop can also come alive before your eyes. Believe me, for someone who sits at a computer all day this is a real treat. Right now I've got the waterfall version of Living Wallpaper on my desktop and I have activity everywhere. Frogs swim by in the pond, fish swim along in the stream, a turtle suns himself on the bank while a birds hops along a tree. And the wallpaper is FREE. Living Waterfalls 2 Screensaver, by Rhode Island Soft Systems, is, in my opinion, a real innovation in screen savers. It's not drawing a box on your screen, or showing some nice pictures, it's presenting a section of real life. A woods, a waterfall and the wildlife that reside there. It's in motion, there are sounds and even calming music. You owe it to yourself to take a good look at it or any of the screen savers in the series. Impressive! And check out the Living Wallpaper too!
As-U-Type, by Fanix Software is a neat utility that spell checks everything you type on your computer in real time. So, if you type something wrong, it catches it, and right now! But it's even more than just another spell checker. In using the software for a period of time, I found that it seems to adapt to my "style" of writing. And, it also corrects many spelling mistakes automatically. That can be a real time-saver because it means that when you're done typing something, you're totally done! You don't have to go back and check the spelling. Another neat feature is that you can go in and add things that may be peculiar to you. For example, I sometimes use "Ahh", such as "Ahh, I understand." Well, the program didn't like that so I went in and added it. Very slick.As-U-Type is extremely easy-to-use and perfect for both new and experienced users. And I believe the program helps make you more productive. And, unlike spelling programs that are part of a particular program, this works in every program under Windows. And I do mean every program including your e-mail, instant messenger, Web browser and lots more. And it'll make you look like the winner of the spelling bee! The program also lets you copy and paste text segments using keyboard shortcuts. And that also saves you time and effort. I'm actually using it as I type this review and by now I've gotten very used to it being there. Heck, it not only types you're regular spelling errors, but it'll even catch something that's accidental .. Like a stray key press. Very slick! As-U-Type, by Fanix Software, is an interesting program that will make everything you type better. It works all the time no matter what program you're using. It learns the mistakes you make most and adapts. It will correct many mistakes automatically. And with others, it will make a sound and underline the error in red. You can insert pieces of text with shortcuts, add to the dictionary, add little phrases peculiar to yourself and more! So, if you're like many people and have trouble with spelling, this is a program you want to have! It may well be a program you need to have. I like it so much that As-U-Type is not only a Pick, it's also a Dr. File Finder Favorite and those are few and far between. Get rid of the errors in everything you write and give this program a good, long look! You're going to like it!
Drivers Log, by StumpWare is a full-featured program that helps you track everything you spend on vehicles including expenses for cars, boats, planes, motorcycles and lots more. And you can use the program to track as many vehicles as you want. Starting out, you create a profile for an item you want to track -- say a car. And from there, Drivers Log will keep track of just about everything you spend from payments to fuel to maintenance. If you want you can put in a picture of the vehicle and you can even scan in all your receipts. You never have to worry about not being able to find out when you bought those tires or how much you paid for that truck bed liner. It's all kept safe and sound right in the program. And the program literally provides you with a place to store information on every expense including fuel, maintenance, payments and even the cost of trips! Drivers Log makes it easy to put all your receipts in one place where you aren't going to lose them and where they're easy-to-find. This is a handy way to keep a record of all the maintenance you have done. Oil changes, tire rotations, that new radiator, you can store the receipts right in Drivers Log. You can track your mileage and you can even do graphs to really see long-term performance. The program also gives you a place to track extra items you buy, like accessories for a vehicle that didn't come with it. Trailer hitch, bed liner, motorcycle saddlebags - whatever it is, you have a place to keep track of the expense. Plus, the program can save reports on your vehicles in a variety of file formats, including HTML, PDF, XLS (Excel), and RTF (Rich Text Format). Slick!Drivers Log, by Stumpware.com, has an intuitive interface and is very easy-to-use. That makes it perfect for both new and experienced users. It can be used to track multiple vehicles and you can track all kinds of conveyances like cars, boats, motorcycles and more. You can scan in all your receipts, your payment records, heck even your proof of insurance and title, and these things are always just a few mouse clicks away. No more going through drawers and glove compartments to find the things you need. It makes it easy to keep track of the maintenance you've done if, like me, you live fifty miles away from the dealer. The program can track expenses for both business and personal trips, do graphs, and can even be used to keep pictures of your trips. It supports multiple databases, does reports in a variety of file formats, and can even import things from any PDA that supports Excel.
