Zip Express, by Insight Software Solutions Inc., is a slick program for looking up zip codes, area codes and lots more. This is one program that's part of my personal toolkit and I use it all the time! For example, a call comes in when I'm not home, but the number is left on my Caller ID. I don't recognize the area code. Say it's 310. I enter it into Zip Express and find that it's from the Los Angeles area. I also see a list of other possible zip codes, the local time and all of the cities around Los Angeles that have that area code. Very slick. You can do searches in a variety of ways using just the zip code, the state, the county or just the city name. Enter a city name and you'll get every city in the United States with that name, along with the current time, the area code and the county it's in. Excellent!

Zip Express, however, goes way beyond just being able to look up mystery area or zip codes. That's right, the real power lies in using the information you find. You can copy it to the Windows clipboard or print it. Better yet, you can copy it to the clipboard and paste it into an application. You can determine how that information will look in your application. You decide if it says "Detroit MI 48230" or "Detroit, Michigan 48230." The program comes with pre-defined output formats that you can use when you copy to the clipboard. You can also create your own. You have over 80 hotkeys you can define as keyboard shortcuts within the program. Another cool feature is that you can determine exactly what information is displayed. So, if for example, you really don't care about the local time you can configure the program not to show that. You can also configure things like showing all city names in capital letters, showing long state names in all capital letters and more. There is a lot of flexibility here.

Zip Express, by Insight Software Solutions, Inc., is a powerful utility that's loaded with information. It's great for finding out zip and area codes, or even the county a city is in, but it is so much more. It's really handy for snagging this data and utilizing it in your applications. The program is highly configurable and extremely easy-to-use. With over 80 hotkeys, user-selectable preferences and pre-defined output formats, it's ready-to-go! Over the years I've looked at lots of programs for dealing with zip codes and this is the best I've found. That's why it's a part of my desktop. Check it out!
