Greetings and Welcome! Only 15 shopping days till Christmas. Well, 16 if you like to shop on Christmas day. I love this time of the year. We decorated the office with cheery lights and have Christmas music playing on the computers. This weekend my "elves" and I go "elving" and do our shopping for Mrs. File Finder - a holiday tradition. We're all anxiously awaiting the arrival of my daughter Melaina's twins! As always, though, I've been busy looking at some great software so let's take a look.

ACDSee 8 Photo Manager, by ACD Systems, is a cool program for managing all your digital photos. This is a time of year when many people are not only taking lots of pictures, but also receiving cameras as gifts. If you have pictures, you need to be able to take care of them. ACDSee 8 Photo Manager is a slick tool for finding and organizing all the pictures on your computer. It has a powerful search feature that makes it easy to find photos even in the tiny nooks and crannies of your hard disk. You can sort your photos into categories that make sense to you. The program makes it easy to touch up pictures so they look just right.

ACDSee 8 Photo Manager lets you create slideshows that utilize Flash. You can make amazing photo displays and even set them to music. The program also has support for Video Compact Disc or VCD and you can play them on any media. You can burn photos to DVD or CD so you have a rock solid backup. The program lets you fix red eye, apply a variety of special effects and even crop your photos. The tools provided are powerful enough so you can even fix photos that have problems. You can add keywords, captions and more. I made an album and added text comments to each picture - giving a real personal touch. If you want you can even make screen savers using your favorite pictures. Slick.

ACDSee 8 Photo Manager is a photo management program that's simply loaded with features. So many that I can't even tell you about all of them here. It gives you the power to edit, fix, save, publish, organize and have fun with your pictures. It gives you ways to keep your collection of photos safe and that's important to all of us. So, if you've been looking for a program that will let you do everything you need to do with pictures, this may be just the program you've been looking for. Check it out ... I recommend it.

Handy Password, by Novosoft LLC, is a neat program that keeps track of all your login information. Many sites on the Internet require you to have an account and sign-in information. Handy Password can save the usernames and passwords for all of the sites you visit on a regular basis. Not only that, but it can also fill in online forms, which is a huge help when you're doing your shopping online. The program is very easy-to-use and has an intuitive interface and that makes it perfect for both new and experienced users.

Handy Password can also generate passwords for you which means that you will have better passwords and the program remembers them for you. The program can also manage all of your Internet bookmarks which is a neat feature. And all of your data is protected with 128-bit encryption. Handy Password helps you get to a site, login to your account and then fill out any forms that might be needed. Pretty darn slick. The program also remembers forms that you've used it with before and can fill out those forms automatically! So, if you're looking for a full-featured program that can handle your Internet bookmarks, store and generate passwords, fill in forms and keep it all secure, take a look at Handy Passwords. Very nicely done!

PhotoShow, by Simple Star, Inc. is a powerful program for working with and utilizing all of your digital photos. The interface is very straightforward and the program is easy-to-use. Tell it where to look and the program will pull in all your digital pictures, placing them in "albums." That helps you to keep all of your photos separated. I created albums for holidays, nature, my new granddaughter, and more. And, once you get started there are lots of things you can do with your pictures. For example, the program has a screen saver option. And, in just a few minutes I was able to create a very nice screen saver utilizing some of my pictures. Very nicely done!

PhotoShow lets you watch a slide show of your pictures. And at the same time you can stop the show, change the speed at which pictures change and more. It also lets you edit your pictures, so you can make them the best they can be! Rotate them, crop them and remove red eye. You can also add text to give more meaning to your albums. On top of all this, the program makes it very easy to share your photos with family and friends. You can e-mail a link, utilize the ShutterFly service for ordering prints or burn your pictures to CD right from within the program. A very cool feature is the ability to create a Web album that you can upload to your own Web site. Just select the pictures you want, select the option and the program generates the HTML code all by itself. It even provides you with instructions on what to do when the program is done. Excellent!

PhotoShow is a beautifully done program for working with and sharing your photos. It lets you organize them, create albums, slide shows - including slide shows with music, screen savers, and more. It even helps you to get your photos on popular gifts -- t-shirts, mugs, mouse pads, and playing cards. Select the photo you want, the item you want, and it shows you a 3 dimensional image of the gift! How cool is that? VERY! And then, if that weren't enough, you can order the gifts from within the program. I've looked at a good number of programs that deal with photos, and this is one of the overall best I've seen. So, if you're looking for a program that makes it easy to do things with your pictures, this is it! Give it a try, I recommend it highly.

Easy Blogs, by UUBA.com,is a nifty tool that not only does RSS news feeds, but it can also generate HTML pages. The program makes it very easy to insert links and graphics, including support for GIF, JPG and PNG graphics files. The program generates a slick Web page that has your most recent entries on it. What's really slick is that you don't need to know any HTML coding - you just select a template, put in your content and click a button. Viola, Web page accomplished. There's also built-in FTP support so you can easily upload you blog.

Easy Blogs makes it really easy for just about everyone to have a blog if they want one. I found the interface to be really intuitive and the program itself is very easy-to-use. Perfect for users with all levels of experience. The program is loaded with slick features not found in some similar products. So, if you want to do a blog and just don't know where to start, start out by taking a good look at Easy Blogs. I think you'll like it!

Retrospection is an interesting program that I just had to look at. What does it do? Well, it records what's happening on the screen like it was a movie. So, say you have a friend that can't figure out how to do something with a program? You can use Retrospection to record that action and show them how to do it. If you had errors while you were working, the program would capture them. To me, its an interesting way to create little tutorials for others. Check it out and I'll get to the full review after the first of the year!

Dr. File Finder Quick Pick

Workspace Macro Pro - Automation Edition is a macro program that helps you to automate functions on your computer. It can record actions and save them so you can play them back later. The program comes with templates that aid you in creating some of the most common macros. The program is easy-to-use and can really increase your daily productivity. You can automate just about anything, from the simple to the complex. So, if you'd like to take some of the repetition out of your life, check it out!
