Publish Your Classified Ad With Edgeio

Move over eBay and craigslist, there's a new way for sellers and buyers to find each other without any listing fees and it's name is edgeio. Now anyone with an RSS enabled Web site can publish content through edgeio using tags and here's how it works:
Let's say you have an item you want to sell. To make it more interesting, let's make it something big, like the sofa you inherited from your great-aunt. You write up a short description of the item and include a couple pictures to be published on your blog. If you want your listing to be included in edgeio's index, you'll want to add some tags. Most blogs already support tags, but if yours does not, it's quite easy to insert them yourself (edgeio offers some examples). You can control how your items are presented on edgeio's site by adding appropriate tags and there's no limit to the amount of tags you can include in your post. Since the sofa is too heavy to ship, you'll want to include your zip code or city name as tags to attract buyers in your area. You might want to include the style of the sofa or the era it comes from in your tags. The possibilities are endless. Once you have published your listing, edgeio's ping servers will pick it up when they scan for new tagged listings to be included in their index. Your great-aunt's sofa is listed on edgeio within a matter of seconds.
It's very easy to find listings through edgeio by searching for keywords. All results can then be filtered by geography which will make it very easy for a potential buyer to find your sofa. edgeio also makes all the search results available through RSS so users can subscribe to the RSS feed and be notified whenever something with that particular tag becomes available. All listings belonging to a member of edgeio's service include a link so the interested buyer can contact the publisher through e-mail. To protect members from spam, the actual e-mail address is hidden until you reply to an e-mail sent to you from a fellow edgeio user; then the two of you can work out payment and delivery details. Once you've sold the sofa, you can easily set the item's status as sold or removed through the site's interface. Once an item as been marked as such, it will no longer be returned in the search results.
What's great about edgeio is it isn't just a venue for buyers and sellers, it's also a place where people can browse classifieds, find housing, employment and even pets! The more people use edgeio, the better it becomes, so if you like this service, spread the word!
