Why should you switch to Ting? Great rates - You can read all about our plans and the benefits of paying based on actual usage. That has a lot to do with why you will end up saving money. But, the fact is that we are also simply charging great rates for minutes, messages and megabytes. No overage penalties - We have talked to a lot of folks about mobile phone service over the past year and no topic is more inflammatory than overages. (Traditionally, overage means usage above some arbitrary amount, triggering a huge spike in rates.) It inspires fear, suspicion and anger. It also defies convention. Why penalize customers for using more? Why treat your best customers like criminals? At Ting, we dont. Whether you use 50 megabytes or 4,000 megabytes, you pay a reasonable rate. (In fact, your 4,000th megabyte is less expensive than your 50th, no matter what plan youve chosen.) This is also true for voice minutes and text messages. There is no premium or penalty that kicks in. Ever. Credits on light months - Its funny to us that this is considered so revolutionary. We think it just makes sense. You choose your plans for minutes, messages and megabytes. If you go over on any of them, we will reconcile in the next pay period so that you pay for what you actually used (without penalty). Likewise, if you go under on any of them, we will credit you in the next pay period so that you pay for what you actually used. Again, we will credit you. Multiple devices on one plan - Ting gets better the more family members or colleagues you add. Great for small businesses - Small businesses are wonderfully simple in their core needs. Ting will almost certainly help a small business reduce its monthly phone bill. (And again, dont take our word for it, gather up those individual phone bills that get expensed each month and visit our savings calculator.) Perhaps more importantly, the service has been developed with an administrator in mind. Everything from the running usage graphic to the online billing detail to the feature set is intended to give that lucky gatekeeper as much visibility and control over individual users as possible. In one luscious dashboard, you can see how much each user is contributing to the total minutes, text messages and megabytes. With simple checks and unchecks, you can enable and disable privileges like voice, text, Internet, international calling and forwarding. No fees or limits on usage - When phone companies offer unlimited plans, they inevitably need to protect themselves from heavy usage. When they have large overage penalties that kick in, they have some obligation to protect you. The result either way tends to be fees on practices like tethering and limits on what you can do with your device. Ting keeps it simple. We give you great visibility into your usage. We offer you alerts to let you know when your usage is getting heavy. We even suggest smart ways you can use less (often without doing any less). But ultimately, you pay for minutes, messages and megabytes and you use them however you like. Free features - At Ting, we believe mobile phone service is essentially a utility. In the end, we offer megabytes, minutes and messages. That humble belief has guided a lot of our thoughts on product and pricing. Management tools, customer support and consultation, help content, software, apps and features ultimately all help you use and enjoy these utilities (and possibly inspire you to use more!). So we give you as much as we can, charge as little as we can and, if possible, offer them for free. No contracts - We intend to challenge the way things are done in mobile phone service. We intend to offer outstanding value, usability and support. So why would we lock you into a long-term contract? At Ting, you buy your own new device, which is likely more affordable than you think. We are confident you will recover that money quickly on our monthly plans. We are certain you will appreciate the way we do business. But if you do not, we think that you should be free to go. Geek-powered support - Think about some customer support experiences you have had recently. Assuming you managed to get to human beings, did you feel like they were as resourceful as they could be? Were they limited by access to certain systems or information? Did they seem to be sticking to a script or a prescribed set of solutions? Did they seem like they would do anything to solve your problem? If you seek our help, you likely have a problem that doesnt fit neatly onto a list. You need someone who is competent and creative. Someone who can hack a solution for you without going to a supervisor or obtaining the necessary permissions. You need someone who will solve your problem and then brag about it to the rest of the team here. You need a geek. Ting is brought to you by Tucows. We have been helping people unlock the power of the Internet since 1994. Screens have gotten smaller, our mission is the same.
