Bannershop GIF Animator supports all of the popular formats. It has a nice preview option that will allow you to preview your animation or picture as you would see it exactly on your Web site. There's a simple wizard that will walk you right through the animation. You can compress your images to about ten times it's original size with no distortion of quality and no color change.
If you are interested in presentations you can change your images to transparent, so they could be printed out and viewed with an overhead or some type of projector.
