Not content with plugging Bambi from 200 yards with a high-powered rifle? Does hunting dinosaurs bore you? Try jumping in the murky deep with the killer of our nightmares.
There are two modes of play in this game. Random Mission is your standard instant action option. However, the real fun is in Mission Mode. Start out as a new shark hunter with very little equipment. Hunt by hunt you will increase your armory. It will take a bit of time but it's for the best. After all, it will not be sufficient to hunt down a 30-foot eating machine armed only with a rubberband-powered speargun, will it?
This title, like the Carnivore titles, adds the element of personal danger, thus heightening the experience. This is even more true in Shrak! where the attacks can come from any direction and visibility is low or non-existent.
I did have a few problems with the game. A few times, business called and I had to quit back to my desktop briefly to answer e-mails and the like. When I tried to start the game again, nothing would happen. My task manager told me there were still two files associated with the game running but not responding. I also noticed a problem with collision detection. Occasionally I would swim out of a shark's path but not far enough to be clear of him. I would momentarily be treated to a view of the shark's mouth from the inside or end up having the shark swim through me.
These things aside, I still loved this game and it's still on my hard drive.
