People with slow PCs can still switch to the old blocky mode (which is faster) by pressing F2
It seems that the control has been optimized significantly, or maybe it is just me. Now I seem to be able to control the worms much more efficiently than I was before.
Previous Information
I used to love Super Mario Kart for the Super Nintendo. My friends and I would hang out in my room for hours playing our favorite maps and using the best powerups.
Super Worms is comparable to that classic game, and that is both a good thing and a bad thing.
On one hand, it keeps the fun alive by using the not quite 3D approach to create a believable track with fast strips, powerups and obstacles.
On the other hand, it shows how dated Mario Kart really was by keeping the same type of isometric graphics. I'm all for loving a title based on gameplay, but sometimes this game just hurts the eyes.
Still, the graphics can be overlooked in favor of some multi-player action. If you have two controllers or you want to share a keyboard (sorry, no network option), the battle mode is extremely fun.
In future installments, we might see resolution options or even accelerated graphics. For now, this is a great game that is being held back due to an old engine.
