The program can be used to manage backups of a stand-alone system or all Linux systems on a network. It provides backup scheduling, tape labels, tape striping, overwrite and retention policies, performance statistics reporting, and support for sequential and random auto-loaders.

The system installation process allows you to restore onto the same or a completely different hardware configuration. You can re-customize your system by changing file system types, adding software RAID devices or converting to LVM partitions.
