Renaming is done using regular expressions, pre-defined renaming commands or combinations thereof.
The powerful Regular Expression (regex) based search/replace engine can be used to add/delete/replace text or move/swap any parts of filenames. Regular expressions are a standard language. With PFrank there is no need to learn any custom or non-standard languages or syntax.
The predefined renaming commands allow letter case translation and insertion of counters and parent folder names. The commands also support insertion of basic file properties (size, creation time, etc) and the insertion of tag information and meta-data from Music files (MP3, Ogg Vorbis, Flac), Image files (including data from Exif and IPTC tags), Video files, HTML files, Text files, Email files, and Office files. If the available pre-defined renaming commands are not sufficient then you can define and plug in your own using a well documented interface and sample template!
There are an unprecedented number of configurable options and features. These include the ability to: save custom sequences into a manageable list, filter or exclude names using many criteria, preview the renaming processing results, manually edit names in the previewer, configure which of the 150+ attributes/meta-data you'd like to view for each file, sort the preview entries by any of the displayed columns, choose different sorting methods, save any or all data from the preview columns to a spreadsheet, apply renaming to files or folders or both, apply renaming to different parts of a name, plus much more!
Some of the many other features included are: unicode support, undo for your last file renaming operation (anytime even after restarting or you can configure unlimited undos if desired), a command line interface, automatic saving of all configurations and settings, ability to save all configurations to files, summary logging of all renaming operations, availability of a comprehensive built-in help manual, context-based help, or tooltips for guidance. Visit the web site to see a complete list of features. A Forums site is also available so you can suggest improvements or raise support issues.
The beauty of this tool is it's flexibility. You can easily build any renaming command sequence you like, preview all of the results, press the rename button, and you're done!
This version of PFrank supports renaming of Subversion (SVN) controlled files.
