You can exclude files or limit the scan to files matching masks like DLL or MPEG, files in a particular file size range or files with certain attributes, like hidden or system files. When the scan is finished a list containing all duplicates found is displayed and you can review and manually or automatically select the files to be deleted or moved to a backup directory. The result list can be sorted and exported to a text file readable by both humans and spreadsheet applications. DoubleKiller is a stand-alone executable that does not need to be installed, just extracted and run.

Impressive and handy tool that copes with tens of gigabytes at one go. Good points: free format wildcard include / exclude filters, flexible list of directory trees to scan simultaneously, straightforward no-frills user interface. Areas for improvement: directory selection window should stay open while you're adding directories and not re-centre itself. Automatic checking of duplicates is good, but would be better if it could be applied to a selected range within the results rather than all-or-nothing. Progress bar for auto checking is needed - took several minutes when handling 60,000 files (50GB) although well done for not crashing. Report of size to delete is incorrect for large quantities - suspect it's a 32-bit calculation.

Poor user interface and no partial filename comparisons...
