CCleaner is still the beloved registry cleaner-optimizer. AWC is more of a system utilities suite that has more tools for daily PC maintenance. It's good enough for me, but there are also other such freewares like Glary Utilities, Comodo System Cleaner, Perfect Utilities, nCleaner, fCleaner, etc. for those who don't wanna pay for commercial equivalents.

I will stay away from this one, can't tell which are real customer critiques and which are from the programs people, altho some are ridiculously obvious.

I have been using it (2.5 version) for months without any problem, and I am about to update to version 3. Yet, I read reports of inconveniences with IE, and it sure lacks a registry restoring device (personally, I use "CCleaner" to clean the registry, for that very reason). That aspect being put apart, AWC is an extremely efficient program to ease up memory and Internet temporary files.

JSmith: That was frustrating. AWC almost requires a System Restore point to be set before it runs the "repairs". You should be able to uses the Windows System Restore to set everything back to as if it never happened.

I like it. It catches some stuff that Norton/Symantec misses. On a 256meg XP machine their Memory Cleaner helps a lot. It frees memory that XP should free but does not. Thus Systems slows down to a crawl less often.

This registry editor broke my computer. Immediately after running the registry cleanup I lost the ability to connected to the internet. Firefox, Opera, and I.E. could not load any web page. I spent a couple hours with my DSL support. They were conviced my line was OK, so I tried another pc. It worked. "Advance WindowsCare Personal" wiped out something in the registry vital to networking. I ran SFC (system file checker) - no help. I tried repairing my Win2K OS with the original CD. It hung up towards the end trying to copy Registry Package files. I ended up re-installing the OS. I spent all of yesterday recovering from this disaster, and still have more drivers and programs to re-install. My experience with "Advanced WindowsCare Personal" was a disaster.
