This program does everything it says it does. prevent fragmentation from occurring. Defrags SSD's, virtual machines, Servers et al. Perfect disk is the only program i can recall to have seen to get an endorsement from Microsoft. It is hard to believe it is available at such an affordable price. As a proponent of freeware I have never regretted buying this software.

I've used Diskeeper for years but was disappointed that the price had jumped on their latest product. Times being what they are, I decided to look around at what other defragmenters are available. After reading quite a few positive reviews on PerfectDisk 10, I decided to try out their 30-day trial. The software was completely operational, no features turned off until you pay up. The install went smoothly on Win 7 64-bit Home Prem edition. The software interface was easy to understand - I didn't feel overwhelmed with information but, like the ribbon in Office 2007, the PerfectDisk 'ribbon' makes it easy to locate additional features. Having been used to Diskeeper for nearly 10 years, I felt PerfectDisk seemed slow the first run. However, when finished I did find a noticable decrease in software loading time and disk access seemed more responsive. From there I did the Boot Time defrag which really did a good job organizing info on the disk. OH, and each time I ran a defrag, I noticed it finished faster than the one before so the program did move around a lot of information on the disk that first run. There are a number of usable reports that I found provided easy-to-understand information about what had just taken place. I can't say how pleased I was with the software. In addition, Raxco provides quite a few White Papers on their website. I found quite a few interesting and I came away with a little better understanding of the defrag process. At this point I was ready to take the leap, dump Diskeeper, and install PerfectDisk 10 on my systems. Price is very reasonable with PerfectDisk 10 Home edition at $29.95 and Professional at $39.95 (a $20 decrease from Diskeeper Pro's $59.95 price tag). Keep in mind these are PerfectDisk's regular price. If you've downloaded their trialware and provided your e-mail, you'll generally get regular offers for a discount. For instance, I took advantage of an offer where I got 20% off the price of PerfectDisk Professional and will be able to upgrade to the PerfectDisk 11 version as soon as it becomes available. Overall, I paid $31.99 and will get the free software so I'm very happy. Finally, I dropped a line late one night to Raxco advising how happy I was with PerfectDisk. The next morning I had a message from a ProductManger thanking me for my input. Later it turned out she passed my comments on to others in management who sent a personal e-mail thanking me for my comments. This may seem small but I'm normally used to sending in a comment to a software company and occassionally I'd get canned answer back. Raxco makes me feel they're interested in our input. So to summarize, I'd recommend to anyone wanting a great defragmenter program for Windows (XP, VISTA, and Win 7) and who don't want to have to spend an arm & a let to purchase it, take a look at PerfectDisk 10, try the trial version and I suspect you'll be hooked!

Pros:
Ease on installation, Ease of use
Feature Set
Noticable performance increase after running a regular and a boot defrag
Price! MSRP is affordable, if you get one of their "coupons" it makes it even more affordable.

Cons: None. I only wish I'd found PerfectDisk 10 when it was first released instead of paying for the competitor.
