The problem with the standard system tray icon is that it's too small and you have to hover over it to see the remaining time. Power Meter Plus is a graphical bar which gradually appears as the power levels drop. The lower the power, the more prominent the meter will be. When you're charging the laptop it'll turn green and slowly disappear/fade as the charge increases. The meter appears either on the bottom left or bottom right of the screen; it moves to the opposite corner if you move your mouse over it.

The system power meter is small. So, I usually forget to plug notebook to outlet until low battery message appear.
To solve this problem I install Power Meter Plus and set colors in "Colours-Battery Drain" section of settings dialog to
Background: ffff00 (Yellow)
Graph Outline, Graph Fill and Text: ff0000 (Red)
Now, it's difficult to forget to plug notebook.
Found one non-critical bug. If You open Settings dialog and then switch to another program and finally click on Power Meter tray icon Run-Time Error 401 occurs. Also, Run-Time Error 401 occurs if Settings Dialog opened, any "Display message ..." box selected and message appears.
Possible, compatibility problem with 64-bit Windows.
