IDwhois is a free, small and efficient whois client running under Windows system that lets you retrieve registration information for domain names.

IDwhois is using the whois TCP-based query/response protocol which is widely used for querying a database in order to determine the owner of a domain name, an IP address, or an autonomous system number on the Internet.
Unlike Web-based WHOIS clients, IDwhois will be design to be a free open source whois client.
