Cons: It will scan your computer and promise to make it faster, but you have to pay to see ANY results. I would prefer to see a sample before I get out my wallet. As stated earlier it requires .NET to be installed on your computer. .NET itself is not harmful, however by installing it you may end up decreasing your performance just enough for this program to compensate for it. SUMP (SpeedUpMyPC2009) suggests some Windows and Startup tweaks to make your computer run faster. You better not even consider this program if you are using a company computer. Some of their tweaks are going to upset your IT department.

Pros: It's not a virus. It has a pretty GUI.

Wow - that was the worst. I installed it on Windows 2008 and the first time it loaded I had to hard force quit, the second time after a reboot It came up and looked like static. I would not recommend this software.

Run for your life!!!

I tried installing this, based on the 5 cows rating. The install got hung up and completely scrambled my XP and Outlook with Business Contacts. It took hours and hours of Microsoft helpdesk work over 3 days to get my computer to behave properly again.

I will have to rethink the faith I have had in Tucows ratings up until now.

DO NOT INSTALL!

The purpose of Tucows is to provide a source of useful software for free. A trial version is useful.

This software is NOT useful.

After lengthy installation and scanning, they think it is very funny to say, 'your computer has a billion problems. If you actually want to FIX anything...pay up right now!!"

This is NOT shareware....it is advertising!

A 'free scan' which lists problems that it is not going to fix is worth NOTHING.

This sort of software discredits the entire Tucows website...whose purpose in my life used to be to find USEFULL software that I don't have to pay for.

I know such FREE optimizers exist...instead of helping me find this software Tucows has only wasted a great deal of my time.

They don't tell you that you also have to install the Microsoft .NET framework which can take hours to do. I finally got the SpeedUpMyPC (SUMP) installed and working. Little did I know that my problems had only just begun. On trying to reboot, my PC went into an endless cycle of going part way through startup then shutting down and doing the whole thing again. It took a lot of time and effort for my minimal skills to finally overcome the problem.

The only change to my system between one reboot (after installing .NET) and the major problem was the installation of SUMP. Therefore, I conclude that SUMP caused the problem. Even though I have now got my PC working again, I certainly do not notice any improvement in speed.
My conclusion: SUMP is worse than useless.

Does NOT work on Vista, at least not on this Dell Latitude. Crashes before it even starts, every time.

The reviewers of this package sound way, way too similar. We need to call the site: TOOCOWS for too much self promotion. NO trial period, just a tickler...gimmeabreak.
