I couldn't really figure out what Mesila was saying either. I've had a great experience with Cyberdefender's software and their support crew. First I'll say, I NOW use this on my both my computer at work and at home. I had the paid version of Cyberdefender at home, and they had some other type of anti-virus on the computers at work. Somehow my computer at work had got some bad virus on it - VIRUS. Knowing that Cyberdefender rocks, I downloaded the free version and installed it. I got the BSOD and it would not run or install. Because I had the full version at home, I called their help desk support and explained the situation. They told me that some viruses can shut down the system if you try to install anti-virus softwares. They helped me get the system up and running. My boss was easily convinced to purchase Cyberdefender for all of our computers at work. Oh, as a note too, the day after I was on the phone with them, they released a new update that takes care of adware, virtumonde virus! They are so on top of it. I would recommend this to anyone!!

I read through these reviews before downloading Cyberdefender and liked what I read (couldn't quite figure out what Mesila was really saying. Anyway, I had been using Norton, but in the last month I have been hit with some virus or trojan or something that Norton couldn't deal with. So I started looking and tried Prevex but didn't like it, and my friend had AVG an didn't like it so I didn't try it. Now Cyberdefender, I like the interface and it seems to run fast. The free version is really just a scanner, but it found a lot of bad stuff on my system and I got the paid version - which cleaned everything up really fast. Great software. I like the 24/7 computer help feature which came in really usefull for my wife when I was travel and she had a printer problem -the fixed her all up...thanx CD.

rarerecordschuck seems like a competitor's comment since I did not have any problems and the customers service at cyberdefender was really helpful when i upgraded to a multi year license. as for the hijack, my home page was fine but my search page was swapped out because i didn't know how to opt out of the toolbar. overall, i am glad i purchased the antivirus/antispyware from them... best of all, the software removed 3 different spyware that my mcafee did not detect. can't wait for my mcafee subscription to expire.

This utility just saved my PC!!! I recommend this software over any other application. The toolbar is great and relieved me from many pop-ups from intrusive spywares! Thumbs up to the developers.

Bad Program, the commenters above me echo my experience/ I remember when I could trust Tucows to provide quality shareware and freeware, but I guess that was before malware became a 'drive-by' problem and like any dealings with that devil named 'security' corruption runs amok both on the side of the virus writers and on the side of the industry making a living from the problem's existence. Not all antivirus/anti-trojan software is bad but sadly I'd say more of it is than isn't.

ClamAV is an open-source program that's actually very good, I am finding. Put this and Spybot S&D on guard, set up a limited-permission account for "slumming" (filesharing, porn or other potentially dubious site-hopping) and you'll be about as safe as you can be.

That is, without having the money to buy a souped-up Mac or the geek-braincell-quotient to manage a dual-boot system running Linux for most of your computer use and only using Windows occasionally--or in emulation via Wine.

Linux is still more overwhelming than I feel comfortable with as a primary system--but every year Gnome and KDE seem to make Linux easier to deal with...and besides a few scriptkiddies poking for open ports that a good firewall will hose off, there's no nasties to cope with. Perhaps the day will come when it'll actually be a viable substitute...at least for some folks.

DO NOT INSTALL THIS SOFTWARE. It will hijack your IE browser with MyIdentityDefender toolbar and search.
