State of the Domain, a monthly analysis of the domain name industry, states: “Comparing 2001 to 2000, the fastest-growing registrar on the basis of net new names was OpenSRS/Tucows (620,012 net new).”* According to the report, Tucows was the largest net gainer in the industry with more than 620,000 net new names under management, for a gain in market share of 2.27%. “Tucows has been successful, in large measure, due to our unique wholesale model,” said Elliot Noss, CEO of Tucows. “Despite the challenging economic times, Tucows and our 5,000 resellers worldwide continue to outperform the competition and increase market share for net new registrations in .com, .net and .org. The State of the Domain report is a very objective measure of the fact that Tucows and our channel partners were able to thrive in an incredibly tough environment in 2001 and we hope it bodes well for the future.”
