Product Manager - Ting Mobile

Ting has been on a wild, wonderful ride since launching a US mobile phone service (out of an old warehouse in Liberty Village) in early 2012.

Just six months after launch, GigaOM included us, along with Apple, Samsung, Fitbit and Waze, in “The Mobile 15” as one of fifteen companies “…that are changing or could potentially change the mobile landscape.” We have been lauded in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, The Washington Post and just about every publication, website or blog covering the US mobile landscape. We have crushed Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and every other provider in the annual Consumer Reports survey of US cell phone services.

In just over six years, we have shaken up the US mobile industry, offering fair pricing, usable interfaces, and shockingly non-phone-company-like customer support. We are satisfying customers and saving them money and those customers are clearly telling their friends. Coming into 2018, we have over 250,000 subscribers and $75 million in annual revenue.


The Product Manager is responsible for managing functional components or segment specific feature sets of the Ting Mobile product.

What you can expect to work on:

  • Break down larger projects into smaller tasks. Write clear customer-focused Epic and Sprint-sized requirements and prioritize according to company roadmap and business plan
  • In a close relationship with the in-house Dev team, manage product definitions, MVPs, acceptance criteria, and deliverables
  • Meet on a regular basis with customers and/or partners to obtain input to inform and validate requirement documents
  • Develop, execute, and maintain product business plan that provides current market information and KPIs, including:
  • sales
  • gross profit margin history
  • year-to-date actuals and projections
  • key market positioning and customer opportunities
  • go-to-market strategies
  • competitive analysis and market share
  • pricing
  • Help develop and manage product collateral and product-specific expertise for sales, press releases, support, and marketing
  • Work with sales and marketing in promoting product strategy and key value propositions

  • Bachelor/Master's Degree in Marketing, Business or Engineering or a technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and technical/professional experience
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a Mobile Telecom industry, with specific experience around product development
  • Knowhow of latest generations of mobile core network technology and interfaces, MVNO and MNO architectures, BSS/OSS interfaces as an asset
  • Knowledge of market research methodologies and customer value propositions
  • Ability to translate customers' requirements into technical solutions and achieve deliverables
  • Must be able to travel to trade shows and similar events, both domestically and internationally, as needed. Must have the ability to obtain and hold a valid passport
  • Successful cultural integration in both large enterprise and start-up environments
  • Adapt to all languages (dev, legal, finance, sales, support, marketing...)
