Director of Product, Ting Internet and TV

In December of 2015, technology blog Gizmodo listed Ting Internet, operating out of a warehouse in Liberty Village, Toronto, as one of “The 6 Best Things That Happened to the Internet This Year” in the United States.

Some background:
The US is the richest country in the world and home to about 300 million Internet users. But Americans pay more for their Internet and get a fraction of the speed that people get in South Korea, Sweden and a dozen other European and Asian countries.

Enter Ting, an upstart US mobile and Internet service provider, part of Tucows (NASDAQ:TCX, TSX:TC), a US$600 million market cap public company founded in 1994. We are investing millions in fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) networks and partnering with smaller cities and towns to change what Americans expect from their Internet service and their Internet service provider. We are gobbling up market share every month in Charlottesville, Virginia; Holly Springs and Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina; Westminster, Maryland; Centennial, Colorado; and Sandpoint, Idaho. People love the speed and the customer support and they are telling their friends. And we are talking to new towns around the country every day.

We are also rolling out a complementary TV service in hopes of offering the most affordable, most usable, least nonsensical (most sensical?) way for people to watch just what they want just how they want it.

We need a product management leader. We need a special someone to own Ting Internet and TV experience – sign-up and activation processes, customer-facing and support-facing interfaces, on-site equipment, pricing and everything else – and put us in a position to scale across the country. Someone who can manage, mentor and inspire product people and establish healthy, collaborative, productive relationships with developers, ops, a network team, marketing, support and other internal and external partners. Someone who can help us grow with surprising and delightful product ideas and can help us profit with thoughtful, calculated management of the less glamorous components of the business every day. Someone who knows how to define and prioritize tasks and then get them done.
We need a badass, Agile-leading, customer-satisfying, team-building boss.

  • Minimum 15 years of experience building and managing consumer technology, video or telecom services
