Amol Naik is SVP of Public Policy, Government Affairs and Community Engagement for the Ting Internet division of Tucows. He is responsible for evaluating new markets and partnerships, and for subsequently collaborating with communities in the manner required for building citywide fiber to the premises networks. He also leads the national public policy team for the rapidly growing internet service provider, with responsibility for all of Ting's public policy advocacy at the federal, state and local levels.
Amol is a government affairs executive and public policy lawyer with deep expertise in technology and infrastructure policy developed at senior levels in both the private sector and government. Of note, Amol led the passage of the first two "One Touch Make Ready" telecommunications reforms in the United States, and later when in government service, spearheaded the passage of Clean Energy Atlanta, a community wide commitment to 100% Clean Energy by 2035.
Previously, Amol held senior policy and legal roles at Google, including leading Google’s state and local government affairs in the Southeast, and Google Fiber’s external affairs efforts in the Eastern US. Most recently, he was a Principal of the global law firm Squire Patton Boggs, where he led the firm's Southeastern US public policy practice. Amol also served as the City of Atlanta’s Chief Resilience Officer and as a Senior Advisor to the Mayor. In this capacity, Amol led a team of 30 responsible for implementing the City's public policy priorities.
Amol maintains deep civic ties in his hometown of Atlanta and beyond. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Atlanta Regional Commission and on the Board of Councilors of the Carter Center. During the 2020 Presidential campaign, Amol was an advisor to Biden for President on Georgia infrastructure issues. In 2017, he served on the City of Atlanta's Mayoral transition team. He is a graduate of Leadership Georgia and Leadership Atlanta. The Atlanta Business Chronicle selected him as a 40 under 40 honoree, and the Daily Report designated Amol as one of the top 10 lawyers under 40 in Georgia. Amol was recently appointed to a four year term to the Board of Visitors of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Amol has extensive international experience, including a German Marshall Fund Marshall Memorial Fellowship, residence in Accra, Ghana as a Google leadership fellow and participation in American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL) delegations to four different continents. Amol also serves as a Trustee of ACYPL.
Amol holds a JD from the Emory University School of Law and a BA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
