Dr. Sandra Matz is the David W. Zalaznick Associate Professor of Business at Columbia Business School in New York, where she also serves as the Director of the Center for Advanced Technology and Human Performance. As a computational social scientist, she combines Big Data analytics with traditional experimental methods to study human behavior and preferences. Her research focuses on how psychological characteristics influence real-life outcomes in various business-related domains, such as financial well-being, consumer satisfaction, and team performance, aiming to assist businesses and individuals in making better decisions.
Dr. Matz earned her Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Cambridge and a B.Sc. in Psychology from the Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg. Her work has been recognized with several honors, including being named one of Poets & Quants' "40 Under 40" Business School Professors in 2021, one of DataIQ's "100 Most Influential People in Data-Driven Marketing" in 2015 and 2016, and one of Pacific Standard Magazine's "Top 30 Thinkers Under 30." In addition to her academic achievements, Dr. Matz is the author of the book "Mindmasters: The Data-Driven Science of Predicting and Changing Human Behavior.”
